108 Portraits is both a photograph and an object. The work deals with bodies, even if they are not visible. 108 hot-water bottles stand for all those who, out of shame and stigma, are unable to report their experiences of sexualised violence and make them public. They are presented as if in a showcase. The hot water bottle is a symbol of illness and healing, of pain and warmth; it symbolises the ambivalence of the human body with its vulnerability and strength.
